Coworking and remote work in Vietnam

Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang have the widest choice of coworking spaces, with day passes and monthly desks. Smaller cities have a few spaces and more cafes. This guide covers what to try first, what it costs roughly and what to plan for.

Prices below come from listings and travel sites that disagree with each other, so they are rough. Confirm with the space.

Coworking spaces

  • Hanoi. One 2026 guide puts drop-in passes at about 150,000 to 250,000 dong a day 1. A global operator lists day access from about 390,000 dong in the city 2.
  • Ho Chi Minh City. A booking site, last updated May 2026, shows day passes from about 315,000 dong 3. Another guide puts day rates at about 180,000 to 250,000 dong for some local spaces 1.
  • Da Nang. A guide puts a day pass at about 5 to 8 US dollars 1. One list gives a very low figure for one space. Check before you go, because we treat that figure as an outlier.
  • Monthly desks. A hot desk in a premium space is reported at about 80 to 150 US dollars a month in Ho Chi Minh City 1. Check before you go.
  • VAT. Many listings leave out 10 percent VAT 1.

Spaces named in guides include Toong, Dreamplex, CirCO and Enouvo Space. A name is not a recommendation, and we have not visited them.

Try before you commit

  1. Buy a day pass first, and for a month's plan, a week.
  2. Test the wifi with a video call, not a speed test alone.
  3. Sit in the chair for a full day. Check the noise, the light and the opening hours.
  4. Ask about meeting rooms and phone booths if you take calls.
  5. Check whether you can pause or cancel a monthly desk.

Cafes

Many cafes welcome laptops, and it is the free option. A 2026 guide gives these norms 4:

  • One drink in an independent cafe usually buys about 3 to 4 hours. Order again every 2 to 3 hours.
  • Avoid laptops at cafes that serve food from about 11:30 to 13:30, when tables are needed for lunch.
  • Small heritage cafes with a dozen seats or fewer are not workspaces.
  • Music is louder than in many Western cafes, and upper floors are quieter. Take calls outside or in a paid room.
  • Work cafes in Da Nang, Da Lat and Ho Chi Minh City often have a socket at every table. Chains usually have sockets only along walls, so those seats fill early. Garden cafes and rooftops often have none.
  • Independent cafes often close between 18:00 and 21:00. Chains often run 7:00 to 22:00.

Wifi and a backup

  • Median city speeds reported for April 2026 were about 132 Mbps down in Da Nang and about 241 Mbps in Hoi An. Chains and coworking in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City run roughly 50 to 300 Mbps or more 4. These are city medians, not measurements inside a cafe.
  • Speed is rarely the problem. A crowded room and a 2.4 GHz-only network cause most slow calls 4.
  • In rural homestays, speeds of 5 to 30 Mbps and spotty calls are reported 4.
  • Keep a SIM or eSIM with data as a backup, and sit near the router 4.

Time zone and power

  • Time. Vietnam is on one time zone, UTC+7, all year. It does not change its clocks 5. A call with the US means an early morning or a late evening for you. Work out the offset for your own city and the season, because their clocks change and Vietnam's do not.
  • Power. Mains is 220 volts at 50 Hz, with type A, C and F sockets 4. Many two-pin plugs fit. A short extension lead helps.

Before you plan a month

Check what your passport needs in the visa check. A data plan is your backup, so see eSIM options.

Questions and answers

Do I need a coworking space, or are cafes enough?

For occasional work, cafes are enough. For frequent calls, a coworking membership is more dependable than a cafe 4.

Can I work on an e-visa or a visa-free stay?

Work rules depend on your visa and your situation, and we do not cover them here. Check before you go: ask the Vietnamese embassy or consulate for your case.

How do I get data for a backup?

A local SIM or an eSIM. See the eSIM page on this site.
